[pdftex] Problems with LARGE tiffs

pdfTeX (Web2C 7.3.1) 3.14159-0.14f-released-20000525 keeps all
different tiffs of a document in memory at the same time. This
causes problems with LARGE tiffs: I just tried to include a 63 MB
tiff (tiger.ps in high resolution) 10 times under different names
on a machine with 631 MB virtual memory. pdfTeX exited after the
sixth tiff. 

Can this (IMHO bug) be fixed?
