[pdftex] href-ing to pdf-file not possible?

Hi!

I am trying to make a hyperreference to an external pdf-file, which
apparently the following does not work:

\usepackage{hyperref}
\hyperbaseurl{http://my.internal.server/base/location/}
\href{subdirectory/file.pdf}{linked text}

pdflatex compiles fine, but clicking the link won't start the browser.
Instead AR complains: "File subdirectory/file.pdf does not exist!"
Any ideas? Otherwise hyperref/pdflatex works fine.....
