[pdftex] Searching for words with ligatures in AR

Hi all,

I don't seem to be able to search for words which contain ligatures in
AR, e.g. "flexcible" or "find". Is there a way to fix this?
Likewise, cut&paste from AR gives funny results, basically deleting all
ligatures.

I am using the dvips/ps2pdf route, with T1 encoded fonts.

Any hints are greatly appreciated.
