1: \pdfimage width ... height ... depth ... { } 
2: \pdfimage width ... height ... depth ... file { } 
3: \pdfimage ... width ... height ... depth ...       % \relax needed
4: \pdfimage width ... height ... depth ... ...       % \relax needed

all make sense and fit into existing shemes. Personally I would prefer
(2) with no prescribed order. The { } permits spaces in filenames. The
file keyword permits  a different order.
