[omega] Landcape mode in Omega/Lambda

Omega and landscape Mode

Loading the package "lscape", with
\usepackage{lscape}, and typing

\begin{landscale}
     some text in Unicode
\end{landscape}

does not place the text in landscape mode. 
Only the page and the page numbering are placed in landsacape
and the actual Text is in portrait mode.  I guess this has something to do 
with'"odvips", since the same problem occurs with ordinary English
text with  lambda + odvips.
Do I have to use any flag with "odvips" command?
Any help in placing the Unicode text in landscape mode will be appreciated.
