[metapost] Equation solving in Metapost ??

Does Metapost have the same equation solving capabilities as Metafont ?
 
I assumed it did, but then I just read an old post from Taco saying that he "didn't implement it in my package". 
 
I want to be able to process the Computer Modern fonts in Metapost, and that won't be possible without equation solving.
