Would be much easier if we could operate on bitmaps in METAPOST
(yes, yes, it's my olden golden dream ;-) -- then, at least within
some accuracy, we might have check the colour of a given point...
Note that checking whether two B\'zier intersect, or are tangent, or
are just very close to each other is not at all robust operations anyway.
