[math-font-discuss] Creation of dyad symbol

This is the result from the command line "latex -v" under kubuntu 7.04.

pdfeTeX 3.141592-1.21a-2.2 (Web2C 7.5.4)
kpathsea version 3.5.4

I am trying to obtain a dyad symbol.

If I do  $$\bar{\bar{\Gamma}}$$ I get what I need.

If I do $$\bar{\bar{I}}$$ I get a result that is slightly off from
the desired results.  Is this an easy fix?  I'd like to keep the
same font for I used throughout all the rest of the formula.

Thanks in advance and I hope I'm asking the correct group.  Fortunately
I don't need to do a  large number of these in a document.
