[OS X TeX] benchmark a pdflatexmk run on a Mac Studio?

Usually I am _not_ cleaning out any aux files before a new run of pdflatexmk. But to give a clear example of what I’m timing, the figures I reported here are with all aux files zapped.

Once I have completed a run of pdflatexmk, if I do a simple single run of pdflatex, from the Terminal command line, that takes just under 1 minute.

I thought that perhaps some significant segment of the time was spent writing to the console. But running 

	pdflatex -interaction=batchmode book.tex

gives essentially the same time as without that option.
