If TeXworks is opening instead of TeXShop when you double click a .tex file there is a very easy fix. Select any .tex file and do a File->Get Info… (Cmd-I) in Finder. There is an `Open with:' item. Click on the popup menu and select TeXShop.app from the list and then click on the `Change All…' button and answering yes in the dialog box. From then on all .tex files will open in TeXShop when Double Clicked.
