[OS X TeX] "Dirty file" indicator still unreliable in High Sierra?

I am running the latest versions of both macOS and TeXShop and notice that the “dirty file” indicator always has a dot in the middle, indicating an unsaved file. This came up a year ago in which we were reassured that TeXShop always saves source files before typesetting, so I assume that this is still a bug in macOS. Is this correct?

Thanks.
