[OS X TeX] strange behaviour of dvipdfmx and xdvipdfmx in Emacs

It should be pointed out that everything is well without using emacs. TeXShop certainly gets along well with XeLaTex installed in MacTeX 2017

In fact, my AUCTeX package is the latest version installed by ELPA. It's still no luck to me. Emacs always complains that "xdvipdfmx:fatal: pdf_ref_obj(): passed invalid object." only if dvipdfmx called by Emacs handles the eps files, even under eshell.
