[OS X TeX] Illegal Unit in psmatrix

I have been using the psmatrix environment inside pst-node, using \psset to control the row and column spacing
in order to fit the figure on a slide. All of a sudden, I am being told that the command
> \psset{rowsep=.0.5cm, colsep=0.5cm}
involves an illegal unit—it complains about colsep, not rowsep. What is going on?

Here is a totally stripped down version of source code, pdf and log file; note the printing of “0.5 cm” on the lower left of the pdf. If it weren’t for that, I could ignore the error, since the picture came out as desired.
