A TeXShop AppleScript macro implementing approximately this description is now available from
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3825336/TeX/index.html
as SaveExperiment.zip. Its effect is to save the most recent output from Edit->Experiment... as a .tex,.pdf pair under a name and folder of your choice.
