Hi,
when I installed XQUARTZ, I only followed the instructions
issued by the installer. I had a look into /usr and there
are two symbolic links
X11 -> /opt/X11
X11R6 -> /opt/X11
the owner of which is root. So, the links have been created
by the installer of XQUARTZ.
