Yes, it’s fully LaTeX and math aware (or certainly as it’s embedded within Aquamacs), although it still has problems skipping over anything unusual within the stuff prior to \begin{document}, which is why I like starting spell checking beginning at that point. If I recall correctly, Excalibur has that same problem. I don’t know if it’s related to Aspell.
