[OS X TeX] Artifacts in preview window

Thanks all for your comments on my observation of (minor) artifacts in the preview window. I am pleased to note that I am not alone -- I guess it is another PDFKit problem (the last one, which was fixed in Mavericks, was the the slight distortions in text observed after horizontal scrolling). Now I have the very tedious ask of determining the cause of my computer's instability...

Sometimes switching them off until the OS notices and then switching them back on fixes things but I've had a few freezes like that and I had to force a power-down and restart to resolve things. For now I have my iMac set to blank the display after 40 non-active minutes and never let the system sleep; so far no problems.
