[OS X TeX] Why does TeXshop 2.47 lock up when one tries to save as a UTF8 file under Mac OS X 10.6.8?

This causes no problems for me.
UTF-8 is my default preference for saving,
and I've never had such a crash, nor even the 10+ second wait.
