Nice hearing from you!
I'm certainly no expert in ConTeXt so I wonder what happens if you leave out the --mode=editor and --once options. I'm still using TeXShop and its internal context (mkii) engine doesn't use those options and seems to work fine on my very simple test files.
Have you updated TeX Live either using TeX Live Utility or tlmgr since the install? There have been many updates to ConTeXt since release.
