Thank you Peter. The problem was, that I "assumed" it was installed. It wasn't.
It was only downloaded. So I installed it and that was it. Finally solved it.
It was a big relief.

Now the same thread has been renamed "Malayalam with xelatex" (yes, back to my
old theme!)
