[OS X TeX] hidden files/fonts

Thankyou everyone. I can now un-hide files on Macs. Apple have not been able to get into
time machine back-ups prior to disk replacement. I created the problem by dragging some
files to start work instead of using migration assistant to restore all, and only back-ups from
then are accessible. Can see the others, but some folders/files refuse permission to open,
even after Apple changed the permissions.
Have discovered on both machines (MacBookPro not changed) that \use package(lucida}
tells me lucida.sty not found, and presumably other such files. I have the lucida pfb fonts
installed, so assume a MacOs upgrade or TeXShop upgrade has hidden/lost the sty file.
Command kpsewich is not recognised, so I cannot explore further. My font purchase dates
back to floppy disks, but wonder if the sty etc files can be replaced without new purchase.
Are there alternative font distributions available free to play with?
Leslie
