[OS X TeX] [off topic] using iFFmpeg to convert video files?

If the purpose is to play on iPad I would recommend Falcon Player

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/falcon-video-player-downloader/id489381002?mt=8

 which allows to play multiple video formats on iPad without conversion
