Everything looks fine at this end. Can you tell me what
kpsewhich article.cls
returns?
I'm a bit worried that something is wrong with your TeX distribution. Can you also let me know what
ls -alfe@ /usr/local
and
ls -alfe@ /usr/local/texlive
and
ls -alfe@ /usr/local/texlive/2011
give?
Sorry this is taking so long but this is really puzzling.
In the end it may be best to simply re-install MacTeX-2011.
