[OS X TeX] Locked Files (addendum)

Howdy,

Some stuff I still don't understand. Is the source file that synctex is supposed to go back to from the pdf already open when you do this? If it isn't I see nothing happening (with 3.06). Does each of the included or input files have a line at the top of the file giving the path to the root file that looks like

% !TEX root = path/to/rootfile.tex

where path/to/rootfile.tex is the absolute or relative path from the included file back to the root file? Then, even if the included file is Locked when I open it TeXShop also opens the root file and the pdf and I can go to that file by clicking a location in the pdf that refers back to that included file.

Do you have ANY of the source files open when you are Cmd-Clicking on the pdf? Either the root file or any of the included file (which also opens the root file IF you include the line above at the top of the file).

If ALL you do is open the pdf directly in TeXShop there is no way for TeXShop to be able to know how or where that pdf was generated. In that case I still don't see what you are seeing; for me nothing happens.
