You might have some TeX related environment variables set – did you  
check this?

Check what's set in the TeX Distributions Preferences Pane!

Migrating from the older to the newer MacBook might have produced  
errors. You might consider erasing (renaming) the old TeX distribution  
and install a "newer" one – soon (in one of the next months or this  
one) TeX Live 2011 will be released. It's just a few hours time...
