[OS X TeX] Modified enumeration

Well, I spoke too soon. I do indeed get what I want, but each \begin{enumerate} leaves about a half page blank at the beginning and these accumulate, so that when I do the second one, I get a whole page. By the time I am done (going down to H1...Hn) I get a number of pages of empty space.
