Maybe... It comes from using the same font in figures and in text or  
in maths – but the font has different encodings each time. This is not  
treated correctly. http://mactex-wiki.tug.org/wiki/index.php/GUI_Tools#WARMFigToPDF 
  is intended to fix such problems with AI.
