Use one of the following (they should work, and are in increasing size):

{\large \zcit{A}}
{\Large \zcit{A}}
{\LARGE \zcit{A}}
{\huge \zcit{A}}
{\Huge \zcit{A}}

You'll probably want to make it a macro, so something like

\newcommand{\bigcit}[1]{\ensuremath{\large \zcit{#1}}}
