$ texdoc beamer -> I get the manual, ready to go, but no index, as Clea suggests.

It's 240 pages.

I have an old copy of the manual, from 2005, and it has an index. I don't have whatever was in TL 2009. I can't imagine that the 2010 manual doesn't have an index.

Is there any reason to suspect that the compiled documentation should have an index, except that it would be useful---I mean, any indexing markup in the source?
