Howdy,

The version of the TeX distribution you are using has nothing to do with the version of TeXShop. The easiest way to tell which distribution is active is to open up the System Preferences->TeX Distribution Preference Pane. That was installed by MacTeX but will show all distributions that are present and also show the active distribution.
