[OS X TeX] Using eps files

Without seeing more of what exactly you are doing, it's hard to tell.   
Does the following file not work?

\documentclass{article}
\usepackage{graphicx}
\usepackage{epstopdf}
\begin{document}
\includegraphics{figure.eps}
\end{document}
