[OS X TeX] Scaling figures in (pdf)latex produced with gnuplot, etc.

Thanks for these valuable tips. Based on the recommendation pgf/tikz,
I found the package pgfplots. This packages uses pgf/tikz but was mainly
developed for plotting of graphs.
