This probably will not work, as it uses Ghostscript to do
the conversion; yet it is Ghostscript that has been shown
to be failing somehow.

Similarly with Dyballa's suggestion.

Better is to track down what is causing GS to fail, and fix it
  --- up-dating if necessary.

First we need a *complete* example that fails for Sr Sur,
including the .eps  image(s).
By all means try converting images as has been suggested;
if this fails stand-alone, then surely this explains why it fails
also as part of a larger job.

If it succeeds stand-alone, then a deeper analysis is required.

On the other hand, if the full example works just fine for others
who test it, then Sr Sur has some kind of installation problem.
