Hold on a minute!. I only said that I was "contemplating" the move!  
Let's not get carried away.

Of course, I hope that the new hardware will have the snow leopard.  
But then, the way I am contemplating it, I will make a fresh install  
of MacTex on the new machine and copy only the folders that contain  
the magnum opus so that, since I am nevertheless going to foul up  
something for sure, I will be able to put the new machine in a corner  
and happily continue to TeX on the old one.
