[OS X TeX] i-installer gwTeX is uninstalled every time i log out

Thanks to both Alex and Peter for the detailed responses to my question. Using terminal.app as suggested solved my problem, but the .xinitrc instructions are useful also for other reasons. Once i can figure out which files belong to MacTex and which belong to gwTeX (both of which are installed on my machine) i will probably also switch to MacTex, as recommended.
