You reported a similar problem yesterday; in that case the unwanted  
character was ^^A (ctrl-A, ASCII char code 1). Here, you apparently  
have ctrl-B (ASCII 2) in your file. You need to use an editor that can  
make these control characters visible and/or delete them; e.g., the  
"Zap Gremlins" command in TextWrangler.

If this is text that you're importing from some other program/source,  
it seems to need some cleanup before it is fit for typesetting.
