[OS X TeX] Unwanted 'Contents' in the table of contents

Dear all,

how can I prevent Contents from appearing in the table of contents  
using memoir?
The \tableofcontents appears after the \titlepage. Minimal example:

\documentclass{memoir} 	
\title{Title}
\author{Me}
\begin{document}
\maketitle
\newpage
\tableofcontents
\chapter{First}
\end{document}
