[OS X TeX] NatBib problem

Isn't authoryear is the default for natbib?

\usepackage[square, sort]{natbib} should be sufficient.

Maybe you should delete the previous .bbl file and re-create your  
bibliography?

Or maybe your document class calls a particular style by default?
