I just did and I seem to remember having done so back when I  
downloaded Skim which would explain why I put it on the back burner.  
This kind of things is written, like too many mathematics texts, for  
the cognoscenti. I am still part of the rest of us and don't see why  
driving a particular car should entail taking a whole course on that  
car: Just tell me where to stick the key, etc.

So, for the time being, I am going to stay with my turnkey TeXShop,  
jumping preview and all.
