[OS X TeX] GNUplot

Hi The way I did it was to install aquaterm version1.0 (and not 1.1) and then install gnuplot version 4.dmg instead of building version 4.2.3.
It works nice.
I couldn't get 4.2.3 bersion to compile on my mac though

best

If you want to use gnuplot with tikz, you need to install it from
source and not like above.
You don't need X11.
I recommand you to read all the thread about "GNUPLOT on Mac" on the
list. I explained how to install gnuplot.

You can also install it from Fink which is what I have done:

    G N U P L O T
    Version 4.2 patchlevel 3
    last modified Mar 2008
    System: Darwin 9.4.0

Only you need to use the unstable branch to get the latest version.

Howdy,

I answered you before with a question for you. Do you have an outdated
package in your personal tree (somewhere in ~/Library/texmf/tex/latex,
where ~ is your HOME directory) or the texmf-local tree (somewhere in /
usr/local/texlive/texmf-local/tex/latex/)?

Good Luck,

Herb Schulz

You're having in your home directory (in ~/Library/texmf) an older
version of kvoptions.sty than that in TeXLive 2008.

The package pdftexcmds.sty, which you're using, is taken from TeXLive
2008 and expects a recent enough version of kvoptions.sty, such as
that in TeXLive 2008. Alas, you're having this older version in ~/
Library/texmf, and because ~/Library/texmf comes before anything in /
usr/local/texlive in the search path this older version takes
precedence.

What to do: remove ~/Library/texmf/tex/latex/kvoptions.sty and try
again.

That said, Users/~/Library is an odd path to start with. I assume it
results from manual editing on your part, namely attempting to
replace /Users/<your-user-name> by ~ before posting and leaving a typo
instead.

It's wonderful how much help there is on this list. Can anyone help me
get synctex working, step by step, with my editor and respond by
posting it on the wiki?
http://mactex-wiki.tug.org/wiki/index.php?title=SyncTeX

My editor is Alpha, BBEdit, Carbon Emacs, iTeXMac, jEdit, Smultron,
TextMate, TeXWorks, and/or Vim.

(yes, this is a coy trick to try to get information put up on the wiki).
Thanks!

So I have two questions:

- Are you not interested in TextWrangler?

- If you are, how do I post in the mactex-wiki?

Thanks,

I've added information for BBEdit with Skim. I also took the
opportunity to add information on my BBEdit/TextWrangler integration
scripts. Do you want to host those scripts on the Wiki, or can I just
leave them where they are now?

Sure! I don't even know if we have it listed on the wiki, if not, it
should be added. OK, I just added it.

All you have to do is go to the wiki, click on the link at the top
right corner to create an account, and you gain access to edit it.

Once you have an account, editing is straight forward, and we have
some tips on the help page

You hosting them is fine (probably better).
Thanks. I'm sure that will be a big help to other BBEdit/TW fans.

Unfortunately I did not get the whole discussion, but I think it is
about installing gnuplot. Have you tried:

http://naranja.umh.es/~atg/incubator.html

There is a gnuplot binary for Intel and PowerPC. Not the newest version,
but it works fine for me. Don't forget to install Aquaterm.

Since Maarten is posting his BBEdit/TW scripts, I don't think it is
necessary to say any more.

However, Maarten's link to the scripts <http://www.xs4all.nl/~msneep/latex/BBEdit+TW_TeX_Scripts.dmg

Thanks,

Nestor

Notice that I linked to TextWrangler, but did not create an entry for
it in the Editor page. I don't use TW, as I already have BBEdit.

Thanks for reporting, it has been fixed.

There was a nice installation of Qgfe as a frontend via Trolltech's
Qt/Mac 3 on http://naranja.umh.e > software that went very well on
Panther but apparently did not on Tiger a few months ago.

To use Synctex while running Flashmode enter the command
\synctex=1
in the preamble of the tex file.

I didn't notice any performance decrease because of the creation of an
addition .synctex.gz file with each typesetting on an 8-core Mac Pro,
however this might be different on a less powerful Mac.

The setting "Both" in TeXShop's Preferences gave me the best results
which were really excellent. My compliments to Jérome.

Claus
