Could you tell whether your printer can print PostScript or PDF? If  
so, did you find the printer's PPD file and install the print as a  
PostScript printer?

If your printer can't print PostScript, then either buy a PostScript  
printer or don't use certain glyphs if you insist to print from  
TeXShop, Skim, Preview.
