Another possibility is Archive & install. Account settings and content  
are preserved by default, as are network settings. Tiger is put aside  
in a directory /Previous Systems together with application-specific  
files from /Library, Leopard is installed, then the application- 
specific files (most of them, to be true) are put back into place.

You still have to reinstall TeX afterwards. The files are still there,  
invisible, but they have been displaced with Tiger, probably to / 
Previous Systems/Previous System1/usr/local/gwTeX. Same with gv and  
all i-Installer-installed software, displaced to /Previous Systems/ 
Previous System1/usr/local/. You may use mv in Terminal to put back  
everything into place, but it's probably simpler to just reinstall  
using i-installer.
