Try \citep{key1, key2} (I think that's it, anyway).

Since you're using natbib, check out the natbib manual; it's well  
written and covers a lot of helpful features like this.  You can also  
do things like \citep[e.g.][]{key1, key2} to get a list like this  
(e.g. Smith, 2003; Jones, 2004).
