[OS X TeX] Sometimes You Can't Win...

Howdy,

The title says it all...

The glossaries package is the meant to replace the older glossary
package. Unfortunately, if you use the [acronym] option with the
glossaries package it will produce a .acn file which is then processed
by makeindex to create a .acr file which is then read in by glossaries
on the next run to create the Acronyms section. The glossary package
however produces a .acr file and uses makeindex to create a .acn file
which is read in ... . This makes it impossible to create a general
dependancy rule with latexmk that will work for both packages. The
Latexmk321jTeXShop distribution for TeXShop was set up to work with
the glossary package out of the box. Sigh...

I've just updated the Latexmk321jTeXShop.zip distribution to default
to the correct behavior for the glossaries package since that is to
replace the glossary package in the future. For folks not using that
package or still using the glossary package ther is no reason to
update. Just remember... you've got to make changes to the *rc files
(it is fairly obvious what has to be done from comments in the files)
to get the [acronym] option to work properly with the glossary package.

You can get the update at <http://homepage.mac.com/herbs2>.

Good Luck,
