This is only for people who activated manually a per-user setup. Most  
people, I imagine, use the default system-wide setup, implying that  
for MacTeX updmap.cfg means:

/usr/local/texlive/2007/texmf-config/web2c/updmap.cfg

and for gwTeX:

/usr/local/gwTeX/texmf.local/web2c/updmap.cfg
