for a ride by train. You can make your life a bit easier when you set
in Terminal an environment variable EDITOR that helps updmap to
decide which editor is to be used. In a bash based environment it
would be:
sudo -H EDITOR=nano updmap-sys --edit
In a tcsh based environment it would be
sudo -H env EDITOR=pico updmap-sys --edit
Nano and pico are both very similar simple and small editors that
work in both environments equally well and that show the most
important commands at the bottom. The character ^ means to hold down
the ctrl key why pressing the other high-lighted one.
