As I started on the magnum opus and jettisoned both Word and Canvas,
I looked, inter alia, at xfig and deciding this was not for me: while
it indeed looks powerful, it runs under Darwin, whatever that means,
and I preferred spending my time on the magnum opus rather on
learning how to use yet another application as I was already trying
to learn LaTeX.

So, I tried Intaglio and am still with it: It is idiot-proof, looks
just as powerful and the support is beyond anyone could wish: the
very few times I found something that I couldn't do with it, they
obligingly upgraded to suit my need.
