Thank you all for the suggestions about how to create a zip file with
no Mac staff in it.
With Gary's help, I could even download Piontek's Create Clean
archive, but I could not follow the installation instructions. Maybe
if I had more time...
Then it occurred to me to check Stuffit. Low and behold, in
Preferences, choose the Compression tab, then choose the Zip tab.
Uncheckmark
Preserve Mac Content
and checkmark
Ignore Finder Desktop Files
This is all nicely explained in the help file (search for invisible
file).
Then Zip-ping a folder eliminates the desktop file(s) and all the forks.
Next time Reiner Schopf will be happier with me when I upload to CTAN
(not that he complained -- he is one of the good guys).
