Thanks Peter, I personally use rsync for tasks like this because of
the bandwidth that is saved by incremental updates, but if you are
directly uploading a tape archive or have an inordinate amount of
binary files, this way does work best.
CTAN supports rsync I believe. I would try it twice to see if it
works better with rsync.
Suppose you were uploading your files to http://www.tex.ac.uk/tex-
archive/info/examples/Math_into_LaTeX-4/ and you just had to go and
change something in the file quickbeamer1.tex, then a quick rsync
would only update that one file for you.
