[OS X TeX] Beamer and Xelatex - No overlays

Dear list members

I use beamer in combination with XeLaTeX, and many things work fine.  
One major problem is, however, that I cannot use any kind of  
overlays, neither with "\pause" nor "\item<1-> ... \item<2->". This  
is really annoying! Has anyone had succes with this typesetting in  
XeLaTeX?

Any help would be truely appreciated.
